Ration card in Rajasthan

A ration card is issued to the family and linked to Jan Aadhaar. Getting a card and getting subsidised grain under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) are two different steps.

The short answer

Make sure your family is in Jan Aadhaar. Then apply for a new card through your SSO ID (the Food Department's "new ration card" button on food.rajasthan.gov.in opens the SSO login) or at any e-Mitra kiosk, using the service Ration - New Ration Card Form Filling (Form 1).

Types of ration card

  • Blue: APL, families with two gas cylinders.
  • Green: APL, families with one gas cylinder.
  • Dark pink: BPL families selected by the gram sabha or urban body.
  • Dark green: State BPL families.
  • Yellow: Antyodaya Anna Yojana families.

Who issues the card

  • District headquarters municipal area: the district-level officer named for it.
  • Other municipal areas: the executive officer or commissioner of the municipality.
  • Rural areas: the Vikas Adhikari (BDO) of the panchayat samiti.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Check that every family member is in Jan Aadhaar with correct details. Fix any mistakes first.
  2. Log in to sso.rajasthan.gov.in and open the new ration card application, or visit an e-Mitra kiosk and ask for Ration - New Ration Card Form Filling (Form 1).
  3. Fill in the form, attach the documents it asks for, and pay the fee.
  4. Keep the receipt or transaction number to track the application.
  5. After approval, the card can be downloaded through e-Mitra (Ration Card certificate download).

e-Mitra kiosks charge ₹50 per application under the official rate list (updated 26 February 2026), plus any department fee.

Changes and transfers (e-Mitra service names)

  • Form 4: add a name, delete a name or correct details.
  • Form 5: cancel the card.
  • Form 7: transfer to another village or area within Rajasthan.
  • Form 9: transfer from another state.

Getting subsidised grain under NFSA

Having a ration card does not by itself put you on the NFSA list. The Food Department opens the portal for new NFSA applications from time to time by order; when it is open you apply through e-Mitra or SSO, and if your name is not included you can file an appeal (e-Mitra service: Application for submission of appeal for inclusion under the Food Security Scheme (NFSA)).

  • There are 44 inclusion categories, listed on rrcc.rajasthan.gov.in.
  • A family is excluded if, for example, any member pays income tax, has a government job or pension above ₹1 lakh a year, or owns a four-wheeler (other than a tractor or one commercial vehicle), or if the family income is above ₹1 lakh a year, or the family has land or a pucca house above the set limits.
